Tauriel is a fictional character in The Hobbit trilogy by Peter Jackson. She is the series' female protagonist and leading lady and a love interest of Prince Kili of Erebor

She was portrayed by Evangeline Lilly and original to The Hobbit trilogy films by Peter Jackson.

Personality[]

Tauriel is a free-spirited elf who wishes to help others. She easily recognized the growing evils of the world and the need to save her world, as well as help others. While Thranduil believes his kingdom should be isolated from the rest of the world, this contradicts to what Tauriel believes. Her belief is that her people and other elves should be involved with the affairs of the outside world, more importantly and unknowingly, the conflict with Sauron brewing during The Hobbit.

Unlike fellow lead, female elves Arwen and Galadriel, Tauriel is not a lady, but rather, a woman who is highly skilled with a sword and a bow and arrow. Most of the time, Tauriel doesn't need a man to save her, as she is able to get out almost in any of the situations they encounter, which is shown where she kills a spider without needing Kíli's help and even saves him and Legolas from Orcs twice. However, this differed during the Battle of Five Armies, where it took both Kíli and Legolas to save her.

Appearance[]

History[]

Tauriel was born in Mirkwood, around the year TA 2341 to unknown parents. When she was very young, her parents were killed in an orc raid. Afterwards, Thranduil took her in, as Legolas stated that he protected and favored her like a daughter.
